THE OCCULT HISTORY OF
DAVID CHERUBIM

To begin, David Cherubim was initiated as
a Minerval in Aleister Crowley's Thelemic Order and Magickal Fraternity called
the O.T.O. (Ordo Templi Orientis) on the evening of June 16, 1985 at Baphomet
Lodge in Los Angeles, CA, USA and, after two more initiations in 1986 and 1987,
he became an Initiate of the M.·. M.·. degree in the O.T.O. on March 5, 1988,
completing the Outer Triad of Initiation. His main initiator (and magickal
tutor) for all grades in the O.T.O. was Frater Yod (Past Master of Baphomet
Lodge and Past U.S. Deputy Grand Master General of the O.T.O.), who was
initiated by the Frater who is now the U.S. Deputy Grand Master General of the
O.T.O. (Lon Milo Duquette). For his M.·. M.·. initiation, the Frater who is now
the U.S. National Grand Master General of the O.T.O. (Frater Sabazius) and his
wife acted as the other two initiating officers (Wazir and Emir) with Frater Yod
(who acted as Saladin). Soon after this, he departed from the O.T.O., his
membership status became officially inactive in 1989, and he officially resigned
from the O.T.O. on December 4, 1994. All of his O.T.O. certificates (except for
the I° certificate), his letter of resignation (dated December 4, 1994) and
their letter of response (dated December 31, 1994), are part of the archives.
On March 10, 1990, David Cherubim was initiated (or rather "inducted") as an
Adept of the Inner Order of the Golden Dawn (Regardie Lineage) through a
well-known author and Golden Dawn Adept (who was also a past Chief and founding
member of the T.G.D., whose Order name was Frater Adonai Achad), he received
certification up to the Grade of Adeptus Exemptus of the Regardie Lineage of the
Golden Dawn (his three Adeptus Certificates are all dated 10 March, 1990), he
was chartered to operate his own Temple of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn
(the Charter is dated April 13, 1990), and he later became the Chief Instructor
and Cancellarius of the Regardie Lineage of the Hermetic Golden Dawn (H.G.D.).
He resigned from the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn on December 4, 1994. His
certificates for Adeptus Minor, Adeptus Major and Adeptus Exemptus, as well as
his Golden Dawn Temple Charter, his peaceful letter of resignation (dated
December 4, 1994) and their courteous letter of response (dated December 15,
1994), are part of the archives.
On the Vernal Equinox of 1990, David Cherubim founded the well-known Thelemic
Order of the Golden Dawn (Thelemic Golden Dawn or T.G.D.) with past associates
in Los Angeles, CA, USA, conducting (as Hierophant) twelve Neophyte initiations
to start. He also founded in Denver, CO, USA, another Thelemic Order called the
OAI (founded in 1996 and terminated by him in the world in 2003) and, also, the
Aleister Crowley Foundation (founded in 1998). On March
31, 2004, David Cherubim (Frater A.·. A.·.) resigned as a member and
representative of the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn (T.G.D.). He devoted
fourteen years of spiritual service to the Order during which he conducted
hundreds of initiations and classes, wrote innumerable Order related documents,
and actively maintained and represented the Order as its Chief.
David Cherubim is no longer a member of any Outer Order or external Occult
organization. He has retired from all participation and involvement with such
mundane organizations. He is now a Magus of the Spiritual Order of the A.·. A.·.
(Third Order). On January 1, 2001, after more than fifteen years of initiations
and ordeals in external Orders and the like, he shaved his head as a magical act
and took the great Oath of the Magister Templi for his initiation in the Great
Invisible Order of the Universe. (This was the first actual day of the New
Millennium, 1 Anno Antichristus.) On January 1, 2007, six years after this
spiritual event and passing the ordeals of the grade, He took the greater Oath
of the Magus. His grade work continues in the A.·. A.·., the Universal,
Spiritual and Invisible Order. His every act is now an expression of His Magical
Formula. Will He eventually accept the highest grade of Ipsissimus? If He does,
He shall give the Sign of Silence and tell no one of his grade, a Mystery of
Mysteries in the history of the Occult.
Beside his extensive work with Occult Orders, David Cherubim has also done a
great deal more in the Occult field. In early 1985, he started conducting public
Magick classes and lectures (Aleister Crowley type Magick) in Los Angeles, which
he continued to do regularly at various Occult stores and centers in both Los
Angeles, CA and Denver, CO till the end of 2001. He gave hundreds of public
classes and many lectures over the years, not only on Magick, but also on
Qabalah, Tarot, Alchemy and Yoga. He has also been published in the following
books: 1. The Legend of Aleister Crowley (1990 Edition, New Falcon
Publications), by Israel Regardie and P.R. Stephenson, which contained an
article by David Cherubim and Christopher Hyatt called, "Aleister Crowley and
the New Aeon"; 2. The Way of the Secret Lover (1991, New Falcon Publications),
by Christopher Hyatt and Lon Milo Duquette, which contained an article by David
Cherubim called, "The Ceremony of the Sun and Moon"; 3. Taboo: The Ecstasy of
Evil (1991, New Falcon Publications), by Christopher Hyatt, Lon Milo DuQuette
and Gary Ford, which contained an article by David Cherubim called, "The
Ceremony of the Sun and Moon"; 4. What you should know about the Golden Dawn
(1993 Edition, New Falcon Publications), by Israel Regardie, which contained an
article by David Cherubim called, "The New Order of the Golden Dawn"; 5. The
Pathworkings of Aleister Crowley: The Treaure House of Images (1994, New Falcon
Publications), by Aleister Crowley and J. F. C. Fuller, with contributions by
David Cherubim, Lon Milo DuQuette, Christopher Hyatt, and Nancy Wasserman; 6.
Alquimia: A Arte Negra (Alchemy: The Black Art, 1998, Madras Editora), by David
Cherubim, published in South America. His already infamous "Diary of the
Antichrist" is now scheduled to be released in book form. He is also the author
of many other works, including the online document and web page "English
Qabalah: The Key of it All" (1996), which contains the most widely used form of
the English Qabalah today, and "The Spiritual Guitar Guide" (2003), which has
become the primary source of occult information on the guitar for musicians
online. He has also had articles published in magazines, and he has had
interviews on TV and for DVD regarding occult and musical related matters.
Moreover, David Cherubim, a dedicated guitarist and musician, started in early
2005 the "IllumineNaughty," a popular Los Angeles dark gothic band which
integrates spiritual, magickal and occult ideas in their music, image and shows.
They call their unique style of music Ritual Rock and they are quickly
developing a large circle of fans and cult of supporters throughout the world.
Their song Thelema is included in the "Abbey of Thelema," the first actual movie
about Aleister Crowley. Through the alternative music and Ritual Rock shows of
the IllumineNaughty, David Cherubim continues to successfully propagate the
works of Aleister Crowley and Thelema.
